What is TTRPGoblin?
TTRPGoblin is a platform that connects tabletop RPG (TTRPG) players with Game Masters (GMs) running one-shot sessions and campaigns in Singapore. Think of it as a way to find and join TTRPG games without needing your own regular group: just sign up, find a session you like, and play.
Do I need to create an account?
You don't need a traditional username/password account. TTRPGoblin works through Telegram; your Telegram account is how the platform identifies you. Just start a conversation with the TTRPGoblin bot and you're in.
What do I need to get started?
Just a Telegram account. Everything (session notifications, signups, approvals, cancellations, and messages) happens through Telegram.
Is TTRPGoblin free to join as a player?
Yes, using the platform as a player is completely free. Some sessions have a fee set by the GM; others are free. The session listing will always tell you the price upfront.
Do I need TTRPG experience to join?
Not at all. Many GMs on TTRPGoblin run beginner-friendly sessions and welcome new players. Check the session description; GMs usually mention if a session is suitable for newcomers.
What kinds of games are available?
TTRPGoblin hosts one-shot sessions (single-session games) and campaigns (multi-session stories) across a wide range of systems, not just D&D. You'll find everything from fantasy to sci-fi, horror, comedy, and indie RPGs.
Finding & Joining Sessions
How do I find sessions to join?
Sessions are posted to the @ttrpgoblin Telegram channel when they're published. You can follow that channel to see new games as they come up. You can also browse the TTRPGoblin website for upcoming sessions.
What information does a session listing include?
Each session listing shows the GM's name, the RPG system being used, a description of the adventure, the date and time, location, player count, and the price.
How do I sign up for a session?
Each session listing has a signup button. Tapping it sends your signup request through the TTRPGoblin bot. The GM will then review and approve or decline your request.
Can I sign up for more than one session at a time?
Yes, you can be signed up for multiple sessions simultaneously.
What does "hosted" mean in a session listing?
Some sessions are hosted at a player's home or at a dedicated game space. The host may be different from the GM. Venue details are shared once you're approved for the session.
Are there online sessions available?
Not on TTRPGoblin. The platform is primarily for in-person games, though some GMs might also run online games.
The Waitlist System
What's the difference between a module and a session?
A module describes the adventure a GM wants to run (the system, the story, the vibe). A session is a specific scheduled instance of that module, with a confirmed date, time, and player spots. You can express interest in a module before any sessions are scheduled. This puts you on the module's waitlist.
What is a module waitlist?
A module waitlist lets you say "I'm interested in playing this adventure" even before the GM has scheduled a specific date. When the GM creates a session from that module, you'll be automatically notified. This also helps the GM prioritise that module!
How do I join a module waitlist?
Module waitlists are shown in the @ttrpgoblin channel and on the website. Tap the waitlist button and the bot will record your interest.
Will I be notified when a session I'm waitlisted for gets scheduled?
Yes. When a GM creates a session from a module you're waitlisted on, you'll receive a Telegram notification with the session details and a signup link. This notification goes out daily for newly published sessions.
Does being on a waitlist guarantee me a spot in the session?
No: the waitlist is just a way to track your interest and get notified. You still need to sign up for the specific session and be approved by the GM.
What happens to my waitlist spot after I play a session?
Once you've played a session from that module, your waitlist status is updated to "played." This keeps the waitlist clean and means you won't keep getting notifications for a module you've already experienced. If you'd like to play it again, just waitlist again. Some modules are recurring, meaning you can play them over and over again. For these modules, you won't be removed from the waitlist.
What if I sign up for a session but don't get in?
If you sign up for a session and aren't approved (usually because the session is full), you'll automatically be added to the module's waitlist so you're notified when the GM runs it again.
Session Signups & Approvals
What happens after I sign up for a session?
Your signup goes to the GM for review. Your status will show as "pending" until the GM approves or declines. You'll receive a Telegram message when a decision is made.
What does "approved" mean?
Approved means the GM has confirmed your spot. You're in! You'll be sent the group chat; join to find more details about the game, venue, and meet your party.
What does "waitlisted" mean on a session (vs a module waitlist)?
If a session is full, you may be placed on a session-level queue. If an approved player cancels, the GM may offer the spot to the next person on the session queue.
Can the GM decline my signup?
Yes. GMs have full control over who joins their sessions. They may decline if the session is full, if it's not suitable for your experience level, or for other reasons. Don't take it personally; just look for another session that fits better.
How long does approval usually take?
It varies by GM. Most GMs respond within a day or two. If you haven't heard back and the session is approaching, it's probably because the session is full!
Will I get a reminder before the session?
Yes, the platform sends automatic reminders via Telegram before your confirmed sessions.
Cancellations
How do I cancel a session signup or waitlist entry?
Send /admin to the TTRPGoblin bot, or go to games.ttrpgoblin.com/admin, for your dashboard link. Approved session spots and waitlist entries both have a cancel option there. Once you're approved and have joined a group chat for a game, you might need to contact the GM to remove you from the game.
Is there a deadline for cancelling?
You can cancel at any time, but cancelling within 7 days of the session is considered a late cancellation. The platform will send you a note explaining why late cancellations matter to the community.
Why does late cancellation matter?
GMs prepare their sessions in advance, and players who cancel late leave spots unfilled that other players could have taken. Repeated late cancellations may affect your ability to join sessions in future; GMs can see your cancellation history.
What is the 24-hour grace period?
If you were only just approved for a session and cancel within 24 hours of being approved, this is treated as a grace period cancellation, not a late cancellation. This is to be fair in situations where, for example, your plans changed shortly after being approved.
What if a GM cancels the session?
If a GM cancels a session, all signed-up players are notified automatically. This is not recorded against any player and does not affect your cancellation history.
What happens if I just don't show up?
That's a no-show, and it's treated more seriously than a late cancellation: it's recorded after the session, with no prior notice given at all. A no-show can flag your account as requiring prepayment on future sessions, separate from (and stacked on top of) the late-cancellation prepayment flag. If something comes up, cancelling late is always better than not showing up.
Can I cancel a waitlist entry?
Yes. You can remove yourself from a module waitlist at any time from your dashboard (send /admin to the bot, or go to games.ttrpgoblin.com/admin).
Payments & Credits
Are sessions free?
It depends on the GM. Some sessions are free; others have a fee. The price is always shown in the session listing before you sign up. You'll never be surprised by a cost you didn't see coming.
How do I pay for a session?
Payments are made directly to the GM: typically via PayNow, PayLah, or another method the GM prefers. The GM will share payment instructions after you're approved. TTRPGoblin does not process payments directly.
What are TTRPGoblin credits?
Credits are in-platform currency that can be applied to reduce the cost of a future session. You might receive credits from a GM (e.g. as a loyalty reward, goodwill gesture, or refund) or from TTRPGoblin itself (e.g. as part of a promotion).
How are credits applied?
Credits are applied automatically when you have a pending payment for a session. GM-issued credits are applied first, followed by any platform credits. You'll be told how much has been credited and what (if anything) remains to pay.
Do credits expire?
Credits may have an expiry date depending on how they were issued. If they do, you'll be notified before they expire.
What if I have credits but they cover the full session cost?
If your credits cover the entire session fee, no payment to the GM is needed and your session is confirmed automatically. You won't need to arrange a separate payment.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are at the GM's discretion. If a session is cancelled by the GM, any payment already made should be refunded by the GM directly. If you have a dispute, you can reach out to TTRPGoblin for support.
Your Profile & Badges
Do I have a player profile?
Yes. Every player has a profile page on the TTRPGoblin website. It shows your gaming stats, the systems you've played, your badges, and your gaming crew (players and GMs you've played with the most).
What does my profile show?
Your profile shows your display name, how long you've been on the platform, total sessions completed, the RPG systems you've played, your playing patterns (evenings, weekends, etc.), your badges, and your most frequent fellow players and GMs. It does not show your Telegram username, personal contact details, or specific session dates.
What are badges?
Badges are achievements you earn by playing on TTRPGoblin. They're grouped into categories like Engagement (sessions played), Exploration (systems tried), Social (players met), Quality (ratings received), Time (playing patterns), GM Relations, Loyalty, and Community (feedback given).
How do I earn badges?
Badges are awarded automatically based on your activity. For example, completing your first session earns you the "First Steps" badge. Playing 5 different RPG systems earns you "Polyglot Player." There are 33 active badges to collect.
How do I see my badge progress?
Your profile page shows all badges: earned ones in full colour and unearned ones greyed out, with a progress indicator showing how close you are.
Can other players see my profile?
Yes, your profile is publicly viewable. This is intentional: it helps GMs and other players learn a bit about you before sessions. However, only your first name is shown, not your Telegram handle or contact details.
What is my "gaming crew"?
Your gaming crew is the list of players you've played with most and the GMs who've run the most games for you. It's a fun way to see your TTRPG community connections.
What is my player archetype?
If you've completed the TTRPGoblin player quiz, your profile will show your player archetype: a personality type that describes your playstyle (e.g. storyteller, tactician, explorer). This helps GMs understand what kind of player you are.
Your Dashboard
What is the player dashboard?
The player dashboard is a web page where you can view and manage all your active session signups and module waitlist entries in one place. It has three tabs: Approved Sessions, Pending Signups, and Waitlists.
How do I access the dashboard?
Send /admin to the TTRPGoblin bot, or go to games.ttrpgoblin.com/admin directly. The bot reply gives you a secure, time-limited link. No password is required.
How long does the dashboard link last?
Dashboard links are valid for 24 hours. After that, just send /admin again, or go to games.ttrpgoblin.com/admin to get a fresh one.
Can I cancel sessions or waitlist entries from the dashboard?
Yes. Any entry that can be cancelled will show a cancel button on the dashboard. Sessions more than 1 hour away can be cancelled. Waitlist entries can be removed at any time.
Is my dashboard private?
Yes. Your dashboard link is unique to you and expires after 24 hours. It is not accessible to other players or GMs.
Availability & Scheduling
Can I tell the platform when I'm available to play?
Yes. Send /availability to the bot to set your general availability windows (the days and times you're typically free). GMs use this information to schedule sessions at times that work for their waitlisted players.
What does the platform do with my availability?
Your availability is matched against the waitlists you're on. When you and other waitlisted players have overlapping free windows, the GM is notified so they can consider those times when scheduling. Your availability is never shown publicly.
Can I subscribe to a calendar of my upcoming sessions?
Yes. TTRPGoblin offers a calendar subscription link (ICS format) that you can add to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or any other calendar app. Your confirmed sessions will appear automatically. Send /calendar to the bot to get your link. You have to be a full premium member to access your calendar.
What if my availability changes?
You can update your availability at any time by sending /availability again. The system always uses your most recent settings.
TTRPGoblin Premium
How do I update my avatar?
Send /premium to the bot; the avatar builder is linked from there once you're at Basic tier (1+ days) or above.
Playing Off-Platform Games
Can I log games I played outside TTRPGoblin?
Yes. If you play a session with a GM off-platform (a home game, a con game, a game at a shop), send /loggame to the bot. It's logged ahead of the session so it lands on your calendar and reminders automatically, not filled in after the fact. This also helps build the platform's picture of GMs who aren't yet running sessions through TTRPGoblin directly, and helps them build their ratings.
What do I need to log an off-platform game?
Just the GM's name (or the shop/studio it was run through, if applicable) and the date. The system will try to match the GM against its records or create a new entry if it's the first time that GM's been logged.
Does logging an off-platform game affect my rating history the same way?
Off-platform games are tracked separately as a record of play, distinct from the ratings and feedback flow on platform-run sessions.
Splitting Loot: Session Splitter & Party Purse
What does /split do?
Send /split in your session's group chat (works for both one-shots and campaigns) to divide up a haul of in-game currency or treasure among the party. It opens a Mini App where the group enters what was found and who's owed a share, and the split gets posted back to the group.
What is the party purse?
For ongoing campaigns, the party purse is a shared, persistent pool of in-game currency the whole group can pay into and draw from between sessions, rather than every haul being divided down to the last coin on the spot. Think of it as the party's shared coffer.
How do I use it?
Send /purse in your campaign's group chat. This opens a Mini App where the group can log contributions, withdrawals, and see the current balance.
How do the two relate?
When you run /split on a campaign session, any leftover remainder can be assigned to the party purse instead of a specific player, so it isn't lost or awkwardly given to one person. /purse itself is campaign-only; a one-shot has no ongoing party to hold a purse for.
Kudos, Concerns & Testimonials
What are kudos?
After a session closes, you may get a prompt from the bot asking if you'd like to give kudos to someone you played with. It's a quick way to acknowledge a GM or fellow player who made the session better.
What if something felt off, but not rating-worthy?
The same post-session prompt also gives you a way to flag a concern, privately, separate from your public rating. This isn't for urgent safety issues (see the safety tools below for those), more for feedback that's better handled quietly than in a star rating.
What is a GM testimonial?
If you've played with a GM multiple times and consistently rated them highly, you may get a personalised invitation from the bot to write a testimonial for their public profile. It's optional, and the link is unique to you, so please don't share it with others.
Safety Tools
What safety tools does TTRPGoblin give players during a session?
About 30 minutes before a session starts, the bot sends anonymous 🟠 Slow and 🛑 Stop buttons to your session group and to your own DM. If you ever want the GM to ease up the pace or pause entirely, tap the relevant button. The alert reaches the GM without revealing who sent it; it's anonymous by design, not just by default. Use them for anything, from the pace feeling off to something you need paused outright.
Do the safety buttons expire?
Yes, they stop working 12 hours after being sent. If you try to use an expired one, the bot will let you know rather than silently failing.
Can I set lines and veils for a game?
This is in progress. Send /safety to the bot; it's building towards a page where you can note the lines and veils you want respected for your games, help us test it.
Privacy & Safety
What personal information does TTRPGoblin store?
TTRPGoblin stores your Telegram name, your Telegram user ID (a numeric identifier), your first name, and your session and waitlist history. No passwords, email addresses, or payment details are stored by the platform.
Is my Telegram username visible to other players?
No. Your Telegram username is never shown on your public profile or in session listings. Only your first name is displayed publicly.
Can other players contact me through the platform?
Players can see your first name and gaming history on your profile, but there is no way for other players to directly contact you through the platform. Any communication goes through your GM or the TTRPGoblin bot.
Can GMs see my Telegram username?
GMs can see your first name and your session history with them, but your Telegram handle is not surfaced in their tools. Direct Telegram communication between GMs and players happens only if both parties have each other's handles from their own interactions.
Can I change my display name?
Yes! Send /admin to the bot, or go to games.ttrpgoblin.com/admin; click on the pen next to your current display name and you should be able to edit it. This will apply everywhere moving forward.
Are my specific session dates and times shown on my profile?
No. Your profile shows aggregate stats (e.g. "played 12 sessions") and patterns (e.g. "tends to play evenings"), but never specific session dates, times, or locations.
Why is an ID used in profile URLs instead of my name?
Profile URLs use an opaque ID (e.g. ttrpgoblin.com/player/a9f1dbd3-...) rather than your name. This prevents name-based searching, targeted harassment, or guessing other players' profiles, and means your URL stays stable even if your name changes.
What happens to my data if I leave the platform?
You can request deletion of your data by contacting TTRPGoblin. Historical session data that is part of a GM's session records may be retained in anonymised form.
Is the platform safe for new or younger players?
TTRPGoblin is designed for adults. All GMs have profiles that include their session history and ratings from other players. If you ever have a safety concern about a GM or another player, contact TTRPGoblin directly through the bot or Telegram.
How does the rating system protect players?
After each session, players can rate their GM. These ratings are publicly visible on the GM's profile and help the community identify high-quality, trustworthy GMs. GMs with low ratings or complaints are reviewed by the TTRPGoblin team.
What if I need to flag something during the session itself, not after?
Use the anonymous Slow/Stop safety buttons sent to your session group and DM before the session starts (see section 14, Safety Tools). For anything more serious, message TTRPGoblin directly.
General
How do I contact TTRPGoblin for support?
You can reach us through the TTRPGoblin Telegram bot (you'll be referred to the support bot) or by messaging @ttrpgoblin directly. We're a small team and will do our best to respond promptly.
What if I have a bad experience at a session?
Please let us know. You can leave a rating and written feedback after any session. For more serious concerns (safety issues, misconduct, or disputes), message TTRPGoblin directly and we'll follow up.
Can I refer a friend?
Yes! TTRPGoblin has a referral programme. Send /referral to the bot for your link and share it with friends who'd enjoy TTRPG sessions.
Can players become GMs on TTRPGoblin?
Absolutely. Many players on the platform are also GMs. If you're interested in running games, send /gmsignup to the bot to get started with a GM account.
Is TTRPGoblin only for Singapore-based players?
The platform is primarily focused on Singapore.
What RPG systems are most common on TTRPGoblin?
The platform hosts a wide range. Popular systems include Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Daggerheart, Blades in the Dark, Ironsworn, Call of Cthulhu, and many indie titles. The variety grows as more GMs join.
